CASQA Communications and Engagement Manager Recruitment

The California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Communications and Engagement Manager to join our team. All team members play important roles that support our efforts to advance sustainable stormwater management protective of California’s water resources, through collaboration, education, and advocacy.

The Position

This full-time position supports CASQA by providing exceptional membership assistance, coordinating training programs, developing and managing communications content, and executing marketing strategies to further CASQA’s mission. Overall, the position has two primary functions: (1) engagement – managing CASQA membership and serving as the primary contact for stormwater professionals seeking or renewing their professional qualifications, and (2) communications – creating innovative content to enhance CASQA’s messaging for diverse audiences. The position requires the ability to lead and work independently, while also working in close collaboration with a variety of members, partners, and staff. The position is fully remote, though the individual must reside in California.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who is passionate about making a difference through effective outreach and engagement. You will be expected to balance multiple tasks, from membership management to developing engaging content for CASQA’s online presence. Previous experience in membership management, communications, marketing, or a similar role are highly valued for this position.

Core Competencies

Membership Support: Provides exceptional assistance to CASQA members, maintaining high levels of satisfaction and engagement. Collaborates with the Executive Director and / or Assistant Executive Director to support membership outreach and management goals.

Training Program Liaison: Serves as the primary contact for stormwater professionals seeking or renewing various professional qualifications. Works in collaboration with CASQA’s Program Managers and assists in the non-technical aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of CASQA’s training programs.

Content Creation & Management: Develops and edits professional communications, publications, newsletters, press releases, and social media content tailored to CASQA’s diverse audiences. Maintains and updates the content on CASQA’s various websites, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging.

Marketing & Promotion: Creates and executes marketing strategies to elevate CASQA’s initiatives, events such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programs.

Collaboration on Graphic Design: Partners with CASQA’s graphic design team to produce visually appealing publications, reports, and materials that reflect CASQA’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a communications or engagement role. Experience in governmental, non-profit organizations, and / or membership associations is an asset.
  • Proficiency in WordPress or ability to learn web content management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Marketing experience, including managing social media channels and crafting strategic campaigns.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Independent worker with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.

Salary and Benefits

Annual salary of $65,000 – $115,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience, plus a benefits package that includes:
